THERE was a fun finish to a week-long community initiative at Netley which has had a serious message.
The Crime Reduction and Environment Week (CREW) was rounded off with a community fun day at the Station Road Recreation Ground.
Activities included face-painting, competitions with prizes provided by the local Co-op and Tesco stores, supervised sports activities and young and old were able to scale a massive climbing wall.
On a serious note there was a demonstration of how Hampshire Fire & Rescue free motorists and passengers trapped in vehicles in a mock-up of a crash scene.
The community event was the final part of a week long initiative by multi-agencies, including the police and local authorities, to improve the local surroundings, target offenders and put in place crime prevention techniques.
