A STUDENT has been left with a
suspected fractured jaw after
being robbed by two men in
Southampton.
The 18-year-old was punched in the face
three times as one of the attackers tried to
take a mobile phone from him.
Police say the victim was walking with a
friend when they were approached by the
pair who asked for money outside the
entrance to West Quay.
When they refused to give the thieves what
they wanted the victims were threatened
until they finally relented and handed over
the cash.
The robbers were captured on CCTV shortly
after the theft at about 2.20am yesterday
morning near to the Bargate shopping centre,
walking towards Castle Way.
Unusually they appear to have changed
their clothing within the short time they
were caught on film - they were initially
wearing white tops with stripes and were
then seen wearing black tops.

Officers, who are appealing for witnesses,
believe they may have stopped other people
walking in the High Street and also asked
them for money.
They have released images of the pair, as
well as a woman who they believe could be a
vital witness to the robbery.
The first robber is described as white,
about 5ft 8in and aged 18-19 years old. He is
stocky and has short blond hair. The second
man is also white, about 6ft and 18-19 years
old. He is slim with short dark hair.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to
the incident, or anyone who recognises the
offenders or witness to contact them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact
