Foodstore raiders

RAIDERS have made off with tens of thousands of pounds in cash after smashing their way into a Hampshire food store.

The two thieves raided cash boxes stored in a hole-in-the-wall dispenser at the Co-op in Locks Heath.

Police are not revealing exactly how much money was taken during the break-in, which happened in the early hours of Monday morning.

Officers have been studying images of the criminals caught by the Centre Way store's CCTV cameras.

The thieves may have visited the Co-op on Sunday afternoon as they planned their raid. Reports were received of people acting suspiciously in the area.

The pair forced their way through fire doors into store between 4am and 5am. Once inside they went into the cash office, where the back of the ATM machine is situated.

They then took four cash boxes stuffed full with notes ready to be dispensed to the public.

Anyone with information should call Fareham CID on 0845 045 4545, or Crimestop-pers on 0800 555 111.
