Taunton Titans, whose showdown with Southend last weekend was cancelled, travel to Bristol tomorrow to face Clifton.

Few will forget the breath-taking outcome at Hyde Park when the two teams met in October.

After going four points clear in the closing stages, Titans were in possession deep in stoppage time with just seconds remaining in the game.

For some inexplicable reason, they determined to kick possession away, gifting the ball to Clifton who came steaming downfield in a last-ditch attacking move.

With the referee looking to whistle for time, Titans forced the ball into touch close to their line to halt the Clifton attack and secure a line- out.

It was a simple ‘Banker Ball Line Out’, win your own put in, hold possession for a few seconds, set the scrum half up to kick the ball off the field and win the points.

In the event, Titans contrived to lose their own line, resulting in a mass of Clifton players driving a maul over the Taunton line.

A heaving mass of bodies collapsed to the ground, the try was awarded, Clifton slipped into a 17-18 winning position and Taunton’s game was lost.

It’s all to play for tomorrow with the Titans having the opportunity to set the record straight.

Southend are at home to Cornish All Blacks and Barking away to Dings Crusaders. It is another Super Saturday in a game the Taunton men need to win.

Titans play at Hyde Park again on February 9 in their rearranged fixture with Hartpury (kick-off 3pm).
