A HAMPSHIRE yachtsman known for becoming the first quadriplegic sailor to sail the Atlantic has launched a golfing event to help others with disabilities.

Geoff Holt MBE, pictured, will be hosting a charity golf day which is set to raise money for two Hampshire charities.

The money will go to Wetwheels, a charity founded by Geoff which provides power boating experiences for disabled children and adults, and The Rose Road Association, which supports disabled youngsters and their families.

Geoff said: “As an ambassador of Rose Road and founder of Wetwheels I’ve seen the huge impact made by both charities for local disabled people. They clearly focus on what is possible, rather than dwell on what is not, and that’s the philosophy I live my life by.”

He will join golfers at Hamptworth Golf and Country Club from 1pm on September 4 for golf, a meal and raffle and auction.

It costs £345 per team of four.
