A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital after a collision on a Hampshire road this morning.

Two bicycles collided in Eastleigh Road in Fair Oak, near Eastleigh, at around 8.55am.

The other cyclist, a 13-year-old schoolboy, was treated at the scene and spotted in the back of a paramedic rapid response vehicle with his mother.

Police were called to manage the traffic disruption but the road remains open and traffic is now moving as normal.

The boy, a pupil at Wyvern Technology College, has been sent home for the day, according to headteacher Alan Newton.

Mr Newton said: “There was an accident this morning involving one of our students and an adult who were both on push bikes.

"I am very pleased to say that everybody is okay there’s just a bit of a bloody nose but our student has been sent home.

“Luckily when the accident happened the traffic was stopped by a red traffic light and paramedics could come and make sure everyone was safe. The road has now been cleared and everything is back to normal.”
