TWO hooded men have attempted a raid on a Hampshire petrol station.

They entered the West End Service Station, in West End, last night and threatened one of the members of staff on duty, a man, demanding money.

Police said no weapons were used in the attempted robbery and the men left the store, in Swaythling Road, empty handed.

One of the men was wearing a grey hoodie and the other a black hoodie, both with the hood up.

This comes just a year after the same petrol station was targeted by masked robbers who ramraided the service station stealing just over £10,000 and left a 25-year-old employee fearing for his life.

The cashier on night shift watched as the men reversed at speed into the store entrance hitting the metal roller shutter covering the front door so it caved in.

A gang of three men, all wearing hoods and with scarves across their faces, then ran into the shop and demanded cash before fleeing with the money on foot.

The cashier was left shocked and frightened by the ordeal, in November last year.

Any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident, which unfolded around 8.40pm, is asked to call Hedge End Police on 101 quoting reference 44140442305.
