A HAMPSHIRE amateur dramatic group has raised £300 for charity in memory of two members.

The Upham Players has donated money from the raffle at its latest pantomime Dick Whittington and the collection from carol singing around the village.

It is in memory of much-loved former members Dave Plumb and Margaret Cochrane, who were both recently lost to cancer.

The money will be split 50/50 between the Wessex Cancer Trust and Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

Chairman Mo Peters thanked everyone who contributed. “I’m very proud of the group,” she said.

“The carol singing was organised by two of our younger members and they very much wanted to do it so that they could support these charities and the whole group has really been behind it.

“They have been very generous with their time and money, and encouraged other people to as well. The residents of Upham very much miss these people and were very generous as a result.”
