WHAT do a budgie, a ship watchers log, an antique teddy bear and $5,000 all have in common?

The answer is they were all items left behind by guests who had booked in to stay at two Hampshire hotels.

Travelodge have revealed all the weird and wonderful items guests have forgotten in its 500 hotels across the country in the last 12 months.

And a budgie called Bernie was among them – as well as a diamond ring and a rather precious wedding certificate.

Bosses at the firm, which has hotels in Twyford Road, Eastleigh as well as Castle Way and Lodge Road, revealed how a family tree and a collection of family videos were also discovered in rooms in the region.

The bizarre items come hot on the heels of 2013 when a prosthetic leg was discovered discarded in a city hotel room.

Across Travelodge’s hotels in UK, weird and wonderful items left behind apparently include ‘a husband’, a prosthetic hand, a love letter written 40 years ago and a pug called Dancer.

Spokeswoman for Travelodge, Shakila Ahmed, said: “As a result of Travelodge changing for a new modern look and feel, more new business customers and families have been staying across our 500 UK based hotels.

“Therefore, this year’s lost & found inventory list has revealed some new unique items being left behind.

“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”
