WRITERS from across Hampshire are being given the chance to get together with like-minded people at a series of special events.

As part of The Berry Theatre’s initiative to encourage new writing, award-winning playwright Mike Kenny will be in Hedge End in March for a writing masterclass.

Kenny is one of England’s leading writers, specialising in family and young people’s theatre.

He was included in the Independent on Sunday’s list of Top Ten Living Playwrights and his plays are performed regularly throughout the UK and all over the world.

The masterclass on March 14 at The Berry Theatre will focus on writing for theatre and performance and will be a mixture of practical workshop and discussions.

The day also offers an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded writers and find out about new writing opportunities at The Berry Theatre, as well as the chance to develop as a writer.

Tickets for the masterclass, which is on from 2pm to 4pm, cost £15 and £10 for concessions.

A series of Marathon Writing Days are also planned as part of the initiative and will take place at The Berry Theatre’s sister venue The Point, Eastleigh.

The days provide much-needed space and time for writers to create new work, alongside others with similar interests.

Refreshments will be provided and industry professionals will be on hand to help you along the way.

The sessions are planned for February 21, March 28 and April 18, from 10am to 4pm, and cost £6.
