A FREE family festival is returning to Eastleigh this summer.

Now in its third year Eastleigh Unwrapped promises to be a day packed with performances for all ages, including aerial theatre, circus, explosive dance and live music.

Artists Pif Paf will see three characters unlock the secrets of a four metre combination lock forged from 80 metres of metal pipe with their show Planetary.

Search Party brings an interactive durational performance in which they challenge the audience to a marathon game of table tennis.

There will also be a chance for the audience to sit in their very own bird nests, enrol in a hatchling college, learn about native birds and how to be a good birder.

Handmade Theatre’s Flying the Nest will bring to life native bird characters in a new and engaging way.

Les Enfants Terribles brings Dr Longtitude’s Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie, where the zany doctor and his strange travelling players tell their mesmerizing stories of wit, virtue and courageous endeavours.

Returning this year is Scarabeus Aerial Theatre with their new performance BE-LOVED – a dynamic new duet inspired by Angela Carter’s short story The Tiger’s Bride.

Owen Calvert-Lyons, artistic director of The Point and festival director, said: “Eastleigh Unwrapped is one of the most exciting parts of our programme across the year and this year promises to be no different.

“We are delighted to welcome a range of companies and artists to this year’s event, who promise to deliver some stunning work that we hope will leave audiences wanting more.”

Eastleigh Unwrapped, on Saturday June 13 from 11am to 6pm, is supported by Eastleigh Business Improvement District and Arts Council England.
