ORGANISERS of a Hampshire film festival have launched a last-gasp appeal to bring it to a fantastic finale.

Eastleigh Film Festival will end with a showing of Sister Act at Eastleigh Baptist Church, which features Whoopi Goldberg transforming a convent choir into a soulful gospel choir.

The film was set to be accompanied by a live gospel choir on the night but the group booked for the event had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances.

Now festival bosses have launched a search for a new gospel choir to sing a selection of 60s Motown hits and make the screening an immersive experience.

A spokesman said: “The immersive Film Festival is now looking for heavenly intervention and is calling for a choir to fill their shoes and provide the backdrop to this exciting film experience on Saturday, September 26.

“Are you in, or do you know a choir who’d be up for the chance to sing in a beautiful church as part of an exciting festival? The festival is looking for a group of heavenly singers who can cover some of the film’s classic numbers like: I Will Follow Him, Rescue Me, Ave Maria and My Guy.

“Sound like a challenge for your choir? You’d need to be at the Eastleigh Baptist Church between 5:30pm and 9pm on September 26.

"The festival will pay travel costs and make a donation to the choir and to get into the spirit you’ll even get to don nun’s habits for the evening!”

The showing takes place at 7pm on Saturday, September 26 at the church in Wells Place. Tickets cost £10.
