Fire crews have been called out to a blaze at Netley Abbey.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called to the former gatehouse to Netley Castle which is being developed into a residential home, at 9.32 this morning.
Command support officer Dave Graham said: "The fire started internally and went through a void into the roof space. We're still investigating and the causes not suspicious.
"We had four pump appliances, four breathing apparatuses and three hose reels.
"One 38 year old male will be taken to hospital with burns to the hand.
"Using thermal imaging cameras we were able to cut away and extinguish the fire in about 35 minutes."
Internal damage is believed to be limited to partition walls and plasterboard, as well as the roof.
The property is being Developed by Cavendish and Gloucester who renovated Netley Castle ten years ago. It has already been sold to a private buyer as a residential property.
