Pumping company BKB Group were called to Wells Place at 8am this morning when raw sewage was found to be leaking out of a manhole outside Omega House, the home of West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Residents were quick to smell smething was wrong.

High pressure jetter Dwayne Sulston said: "We were called out by Southern Water this morning to deal with the mess.

"We've jetted the sewer lines and cleaned up the raw sewage in the garden.

"We've cleared the blockage now we're just trying to make sure it's sorted out to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"We get called out every day to this sort of thing - and it's usually wet wipes that have been causing the problem. They are a very big issue."

Receptionist at West Hants CCG Shirley Tilly said: "I got in quite early at 7.45 and it wasn't too bad but then by about 9.30 it was starting to pump out. It smelled like raw sewage - it wasn't pleasant at all."

Another worker added: "It was very exciting and disgusting at the same time - a confusing wave of emotions.

"We were kinda hoping it'd get really bad and they'd close the building so we could go home early on a Friday!"
