IT’S a Hampshire hotel that’s gone a little football crazy for Euro 2016.

It has a multi-national, multi-lingual staffing that you might expect more in the UN or the European Parliament than at a Hampshire hotel.

A staff survey has shown that workersstaff at Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa are able to speak an unusually diverse range of languages.

The hotel at Boorley Green near Botley has staff that speak at least eight different languages including French, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Latvian, Hungarian, Romanian and Bulgarian.

The Botley Park Hotel is running a Euro 2016 sweepstake with all 24 teams picked and all 51 matches will be shown at the hotel’s sports bar which will be decorated for the occasion.

The hotel is proud of its multi-lingual staff but there will be no need for translators for today’s clashcrunch game as Wayne Rooney and England come up against neighbours Wales.

It will also be a battle of ex-Saints as former Southampton club captain Adam Lallana comes face to face with Welsh Real Madrid and former St Mary’s star Gareth Bale.

Wales are top of Group B after beating Slovakia and England are second after drawing against Russia.

The hotel’s new general manager, Jeff Condliffe, has just recently joined from a hotel in Swansea.

He said: “I have only recently joined the hotel from the Dragon Hotel in Swansea. My previous staff have been giving me a pretty hard time already because of the England result last week.

“The banter has already started from them about today’s game and I am sure that Wind Street in Swansea, where most of the bars and pubs are, will be jumping. I really hope that England get a good result against them as I know many of my staff here at Botley will be cheering our boys on.

“It has been great fun watching staff from different countries cheer on their home nations at the sports bar and the banter between them has been amusing too.

“I’m sure as the tournament progresses and we see more of them play against each other that our sports bar will be awash with flags and scarves from the different nations.”

Today’s game is being played at 2pm in the north French town of Lens.

Wales last beat England at football 32 years ago in 1984 with a 1-0 win. In a total of 101 football matches Wales have only beaten England 14 times.
