A BRAVE football fan will turn plenty of heads tonight when she has her brightly coloured hair shaved off in front of thousands of football fans.

Collette Ibbett will be having her purple locks lopped off under the floodlights at Eastleigh Town FC when she goes onto the pitch at half time for a high profile charity challenge.

The stylish supporter has agreed to have the chop during the Spitfires' crunch Conference match with Torquay in memory of a close friend's niece who died of a brain tumour.

Now she is urging fans to get behind her as she gears up for the fundraising drive at the Silverlake Stadium.

The 46-year-old from Southampton secured the opportunity with the help of Saints legend Lawrie McMenemy who is a customer at Romsey Post Office where she works.

Collete, who is actually a Saints fan, wanted to do something different to raise funds in memory of Lyndsey Roughton - the niece of her close friend Liz Maw.

Lyndsey tragically lost her life to a brain tumour in February 2014 - aged just 29.

Collete is collecting for the Brain Tumour Charity and the Purple Heart Wishes -which organises days out and special events for adults aged 18-40 suffering from terminal illnesses.

She has even dyed her hair purple in recognition of the charity before her head is shaved by Nick Martin who works in Trevor Mitchell Salon in Romsey.

And her friends and family will be holding bucket collections for the charities at the event.

The Post Office clerk, who lives in Highfield, and has previously served teas during Eastleigh games, said: "I promised Lyndsey that I would do something for her and I wanted to do it in a big place where there are lots of people.

"I know that my hair will grow back but there are young women who suffer from illnesses who have no choice in losing their hair."

She says she is looking forward to appearing in front of thousands of people and added "I am not nervous at all.

"I am looking forward to it and I hope that the crowds will be cheering me on."

Liz, who is travelling down for the match from Cirencester, said: "Collette is like family to me and to see her doing it for Lyndsey is going to be very emotional."

Mr McMenemy said: "It is a big decision for any lady to have her head shaved and I really hope she gets the recognition she deserves."
