POLICE were called after a blaze broke out in a Hampshire street.

Fire crews from Eastleigh, St Mary's, Redbridge and Romsey rushed to Six Oaks Road in North Baddesley after the blaze started at about 10am yesterday morning.

The road was cordoned off and the fire is believed to have started in a car port between two properties.

Police and fire investigation teams arrived at the scene to investigate the blaze.

North Baddesley resident Charlotte Goulding, 37, said: "I came out to put some rubbish in my bin and saw lots of black smoke. My neighbours had already called firefighters."

She said she could see flames and smoke pouring form the carport and that those living in the building left the house as soon as they realised it was on fire.

No-one was hurt in the fire.
