POLICE are to crack down on anti-social behaviour in a Hampshire community.

Officers are to conduct regular patrols in Bishopstoke, Fair Oak and Horton Heath, after residents voiced concerns about anti-social behaviour in parks.

This comes after the result of the Police and Community Together survey, which is carried out by the police and completed every three months in order to obtain feedback from the community.

Following the report police vowed to step up patrols n the area.

Police Community Safety Officer Lucinda Mack, from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team in Bishopstoke, said: “Due to recent anti-social behaviour in local parks, and residents having selected groups causing nuisance as a substantial concern, this priority will remain.

“To help tackle this we aim to conduct regular patrols and speak to individuals and groups within those areas to deter and intercept any negative behaviour.

“We also hope to work closely with the local Street Pastors who also patrol these areas.”

The 119 residents who took part in the survey also highlighted their concerns about traffic-related issues, vehicle thefts and rogue trade.

Ms Mack said that officers will continue to utilise Fair Oak Community Speed Watch to help deal with traffic-related offences.

Following ten house burglaries in the areas in the last three months, officers also added burglary to their priorities.

“I would like to assure you that we will do our best to tackle these issues by working with the appropriate agencies,” Ms Mack said.

Borough councillor Vickieye Parkinson-MacLachlan said that having PCSOs patrolling the areas is vital for the community. She added: “ PCSOs are doing a good job and Street Pastors too.

“Being able to know that people are around is really good. They are part of the community. We have a real commitment to keep the community safe.”
