HUNDREDS of residents took the opportunity to take a peek behind the curtain of the town’s theatre, after the Point staged an open day on Sunday.

Participants had the opportunity to enjoy homemade lunches, cakes and cream teas and get involved in several activities including dance, craft activities and face painting.

They could also get a sneak preview of the youth theatre and dance companies polishing their performances in two open rehearsals.

Film lovers had the chance to catch the Disney animation Big Hero 6 for free in an afternoon film screening, while live music from New Forest Brass entertained attendees.

Vicki Hargreaves, dance development manager at The Point, said: “It was really well attended. It was really great to be able to talk to people about the work we are doing. Lots of people stayed for the whole day.”
