THE world renowned European Aerial Dance Festival will be held at The Point next month.

The eighth annual event, which takes place from August 8 to 19, is being hosted in partnership with Gravity & Levity.

The two-week event will see aerialists of all levels come together to celebrate the discipline as they undertake courses in various skills, from corde lisse, aerial yoga and trapeze to vertical dance and acrobatics, led by world-class industry experts.

The Eastleigh arts venue, which has built a reputation for nurturing and housing companies of all disciplines, will open its doors to EADF participants from around the globe this summer as The Point plays host for a second year. The cultural hub was selected to house the acclaimed festival for its unique and unrivalled facilities which includes a double-height Creation Space rigged for the aerial arts alongside a Studio Theatre and Main Auditorium.

Vicki Hargreaves, The Point’s Dance Development Manager, told the Daily Echo: “We cannot wait to see what the festival has in store this year and in the years to come. People from across the world are travelling to The Point to share, exchange and learn and we are very proud to be the cultural hub at which this training takes place.”

Audiences will be invited to watch an Open Space of what participants have learned during their course at the end of the two-week festival. At the sharing, which will be hosted at The Point, the course tutors will also showcase their world-class skills at a free and informal gathering open to all.
