THOUSANDS of pounds are to be invested in a new multi-use games area in an Eastleigh park.

Grantham Green in the town centre is to have the new facility thanks to up to £74,000 of developers’ contributions.

The project is part of a scheme which aims to make the green space suitable for several activities.

As previously reported, parts of the works have already been completed after new trees, shrubs and wildflower have been planted and new footpaths have been created.

Now the area is set to benefit from a new multi-use games which will give local residents and children the chance to play several sports including football and basketball.

Project manager Mark Ellison, said: “This is the result of a joint work between the council and the community.”

Work on constructing a fully fenced five-a-side football and basketball court will start in the autumn, along with bulb planting.

Later this year, a rock-climbing feature will also be installed in the area.
