A HAMPSHIRE supermarket raised thousands of pounds to help change people’s lives.

The Sainsbury’s in Eastleigh is celebrating for having raised £3061.82 for Comic Relief.

During the weeks leading up to Red Nose Day, the Eastleigh staff run several fundraising activities and wore fancy costumes.

Customers were also able to join in the fun and watch both staff and customers throwing wet sponges at the store manager.

Charlie Bird, store manager at Sainsbury’s Eastleigh, said: “ Our customers and colleagues are always keen to raise as much as possible for Red Nose Day and come up with lots of fun and creative ways to do it. I’m really proud that we’ve been able to contribute to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury’s to Comic Relief.”

Sainsbury’s is the official retailer of Red Noses and Red Nose Day merchandise to help support people in needs in the UK and across Africa.
