THEY could be the future stars of Strictly Come Dancing.

But now young dancers Lauren King and Adam Parry are to take up a major challenge to raise money for a good cause – and are asking the community to support them.

Lauren, 14, from Hedge End and Adam, 14, from Shaftesbury will be performing ten different Latin and ballroom dances at ten different venues across Southampton, Bursledon, West End and Portsmouth in ten hours on October 25.

The pair will be raising money for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA), which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

Lauren, who attends Wildern School in Hedge End, said: “Adam and I were keen to do a dance challenge for charity. When we saw it was the tenth anniversary of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance we thought that would fit in really well with our 10 ballroom and Latin dances.

“We would love people to come and support us and help raise funds for this life saving service.”

Lauren started ballet when she was two and discovered her love for ballroom and Latin five years ago, while Adam, a Shaftesbury School’s student, has been dancing since he was six.

The couple met at the A & L Dance Academy in Hedge End two years ago and have been dancing together since.

They now train seven hours a week at the academy. Dance teacher and school owner Lisa Ivanets said: “We are so proud of Lauren and Adam for organising this challenge and we are pleased to support them in raising money for such a good cause.”

The couple competed in several national and European competitions and came first in ballroom at the WDC AL Portugal Championship in June 2017.

They will now compete in Paris at The World Open Championships at Disneyland on December 10.

But before flying to Europe, they will try to raise as much money as possible for HIOWAA.

The youngsters have launched an online fundraising campaign in a bid to raise £1,000, and have already raised £695.
