YOUNGSTERS from a Hampshire nursery were treated to a scarecrow trail around their village.

Now in its third year, Colden Common Pre-School’s Scarecrow Festival saw more than 100 families in the area come together for a day of straw-filled fun, run by parent volunteers. There were arts and crafts, colouring and storytime at the Community Centre on Saturday as well a raffle and craft competitions.

The children were tasked with finding clues in order to win a chocolatey treat at the end. All the funds raised will go towards the preschool, which is charity-run.

Jessica Zubaidi, the pre-school’s treasurer, said: “The Scarecrow Festival was another great community event raising £1,000 for Colden Common Preschool. 145 families joined in the fun, following the trail around the village.” to spot scarecrows, all depicting children’s characters over the past 25 years.

Participants enjoyed seeing the likes of Noddy, Pippy Longstocking, Bart Simpson and Snoopy around the village.”
