YOUNGSTERS at Fair Oak Junior School are delighted after raising £644.62 for Children in Need.

The school asked its 547 pupils to contribute in a 'Hunt for the Round Pound' and children turned out their pockets, delved down the back of the sofa, and searched high and low for disused coins to give to the charity.

Each class aimed to fill out a Pudsey Bear template in the coins, to be carefully counted up later by year 6 pupils.

The staff and children also got the opportunity to show their support and have a bit of fun by dressing up in something spotty for the day.

Site manager, Mr John Brown, also participated in fundraising by asking pupils to greet him with a high-five for 5p. He managed to get 335 high fives with extra donations, making over £22.

Acting Deputy Head, Mr Mark Borham, said: "The school is chuffed and the children are delighted by the outcome. Everyone's gone above and beyond this year!"
