BUSINESSES are being urged to safeguard their credit card machines after a group obtained a £7,000 fraudulent refund following a burglary.
Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with incidents in Eastleigh and Southsea.
A man and a woman distracted the receptionist at the Concorde Club in Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh between 5pm and 8pm on Monday, November 6.
While the receptionist was distracted, another man reached over the counter and stole the credit card machine - leaving a similar machine in its place.
The stolen machine was then used to obtain fraudulent refunds worth £7,000.
A similar method was used twice at the Royal Beach Hotel in St Helens Parade in Southsea between 9pm and 10.50pm on Monday, November 6 and between 3.10pm and 4pm on Thursday, November 16. No money was transferred in these cases.
