RESIDENTS in the Eastleigh borough are invited to help keep the community safe.
They are invited to join the Eastleigh Neighbourhood Watch Association (ENWA).
Mike Anthony, chair of ENWA, said: "In a time of ever more funding cuts and staff reduction, the reality is that the police can’t deal with all the problems and issues arising from crime and anti-social behaviour alone - they need the support of the whole community. We have to do more ourselves and NHW provides a way for local people to provide this support and contribute to making their communities safer. Across the UK, communities face different challenges for crime prevention according to factors such as geography, local assets, housing and local transportation amongst others. Without doubt though, in all cases, NHW schemes can help by limiting the opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour through increased awareness of current, new and emerging threats and by getting residents to join together against crime and increase the sense of community."
