THIEVES have broken into a Hampshire library.

An investigation has been launched after reports of a burglary at the library in Chandler’s Ford, Oakmount Road.

A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said a window was smashed to gain entry and a small amount of cash was stolen.

The incident happened between 5pm on May 11 and 8am on May 12.

A message posted yesterday on the library's Facebook page reads: "Unfortunately we are unable to open today due to unforseen circumstance. There will be no fines for books due back today."
