IT IS the Hampshire pub with a family feel.

The Plough Inn in Bursledon is the pub where the staff want everyone feel at home and dogs can sip dog beers.

Deputy manager Anthony David said the pub is a true hub for the community.

And added: “The pub is really the heart of the community and many people have a dog nowadays and we want to welcome the family as a whole.”

While customers enjoy food and drinks inside or in the garden, their four-legged friends are treated with dog beer, dog ice cream and dog biscuits.

Anthony said the pub gets very busy after 5pm when regulars come in to relax after a day of work.

“We consider customers as part of the pub’s family. We want people to feel at home when they are here. Running a pub is not just about making money, it’s about building a relationship with the community,”he added.

Anthony said staff members have been working at the pub for many years, building strong relationships and trust with the community.

Traditional food, including pies, is served every day and burgers are the best sellers.

Vegan and vegetarian dishes are also available and the chef’s specials change every two weeks.

“It’s based on what we don’t have on the menu, to offer something different. The chef decides what to do,”Anthony said.

More sharing platters are being introduced, including chicken wings and pork belly.

Customers can also choose between a wide selection of ales, lagers and wine, with Fursty Ferret the best seller.

Charity events in support of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are run regularly and quiz nights are run on Tuesdays.

“We want to care for the community,” Anthony said.

The garden and the children’s play area are the main attraction in summer.
