Stallion stolen from Hampshire field

A STALLION has been stolen by thieves from a field in Hedge End.

The horse thieves cut and removed an eight-foot section of fence to get into the field and police believe they walked the animal out of the field in Tanhouse Lane via Hats Copse Park.

The five-year-old bay stallion is 15½ hands with four white feet and a small white blaze.

He is not broken and is extremely timid. It is believed the thief would have had great difficulty getting the stallion into a horse box unless it was sedated.

It was taken between 6.30pm Tuesday, June 16 and 8.30am Wednesday, June 17.

The stallion was one of seven horses in the field, and it would have made a great deal of noise when separated from the other animals.

Police want to hear from anyone who heard or saw unusual activity in the area of Tanhouse Lane or Hats Copse Park overnight Tuesday and Wednesday. They particularly want to hear from anyone who saw a horsebox in that area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111.

I suspect horse-play is involved somewhere!! Probably now being served up at Mcd's in Hedge End - they are known for their "extra ingredients" in there!!!

I'm really sorry for this animal and the owner, who loves him dearly.
But I have to say he is probably as lost as the great Shergar and equally as table bound in some Dutch eaterie.

Mcd's usually use something less exotic, like rat, my dear west_end_legend.

Often I am sickened by some humans towards animals. From fox hunting to actually seeing many horses in a field having eaten every blade of grass - yes of course, as other bloggers have said - thieves do not care if the colt has a good pedigree, all the better to eat and of course more money. It's a sick society we live in.
