A MAN was attacked by a gang of robbers as he walked through a village.
The 23-year-old was on his way back from a pub when a group of six people approached him in Wells Lane, Hamble.
At first they asked for a cigarette lighter before launching an assault which left the victim with bruising.
They stole £120 in cash during the attack, which happened while the man, from Essex, was walking back to the boat he was working on.
Police have launched an appeal for information about the incident, which took place at 8.10pm on Sunday, May 20.
One of the attackers was described as mixed race, no older than 18, 6ft, with an average build and wearing a light grey hoodie with the word ‘ECKO’ on the front.
