Man talked down from car park roof in Eastleigh

Man talked down from car park roof Man talked down from car park roof

NEGOTIATORS were called in after a man was found “in a precarious position” at the top of a Hampshire multi-storey car park.

Police received a call reporting concerns for the welfare of the man who was on the edge of the 13-level Mitchell Road car park in Eastleigh.

Neighbouring Southampton Road was closed while the drama unfolded at around 11.30pm on last night and a critical incident inspector was called in.

Negotiations with the man continued until just before 1.30am when he came away from the edge of the town centre car park of his own accord and was led to safety unharmed.

Cue usual nonsense from usual idiots about how he should be forced to pay for the emergency services or something.

He should be forced to pay for the emergency services or something. I totally agree. Cue all the 'you don't understand mental health nonsense'.

How about, cue all the "we all contribute toward the emergency services, so that when our time comes to use them, we're not suddenly hit with a huge bill" nonsense?

How about “our emergency services are stretched as it is and could do without time wasters like this adding more pressure and potentially taking them way from real emergencies”
Sorry Mrs. Brown we could not come to your burning house, our crew was out dealing with some attention seeker at the time.
Sorry we could not come straight away to attend to a reported mugging, we have not got enough officers as our resources are being wasted by phoney 999 calls, drunks and attention seekers.
I pay my bills, taxes etc. Why should I have to have a diminished service due to the above idiots?
As you can guess, no sympathy from me. Should have got Dirty Harry up there to sort it out.

Hahaha, a predictable response from the usual suspects on here....people are people no matter what & we all deal with stuff in a different way....some people are strong in their daily dealings & some not so strong.....we all have a bad day sooner or later (you don't know their circumstances)!

I just hope you never have a bad day like this person obviously has!

If you use up and waste the valuable time and resources of our emergency services as a cry for help, then yes you should have to contribute to the pot you have taken from. As should drunks, phoney 999 calls, attention seekers and fat people. There are many people who can’t receive the proper care/ services they should due to the selfish me me me minority.

I presume all those people you mention get a tax rebate, then. Why should they contribute to something they won't benefit from?

Unfortunately one of the reasons our services are deteriorating is due to people, like this man, who feel it is theirs to use as they wish and drain valuable resources away from those who really need it. Smokers, the fat, drunks and time wasters should contribute more, and not just in taxes they pay for beer/ fags or cakes.

If that is your view, then the same logic should apply to any one who injures themselves playing sport,
horse riding, cycling or driving for pleasure, injuring themselves doing DIY,decorating, cooking and so it goes on. Where do you draw the line? Every one who pays tax contributes towards the emergency services.

True. But many accidents are cause by crass stupidity.
By the way not all fat people are fat because they eat too much of the wrong food. some cases are caused by glandular disease.
A friend of mine was a normal 12 stone and put on steroids for a disease and put on 11 stone in 8 months and the doctors had no idea what do do. Does that make him a waste of valuable resources? We should generalise

In my opinion you are probably right and wrong "attention seeker" yes, maybe, he has problems which he cannot cope with and the only way to get help was to take this action, hopefully, he will get the assistance that he needs. Wasting time and resources, not really, that is one of the things that they are there for. I just hope you, yourself never experience a similar fate, but if you do I trust that the right people will come to your aid.
