Man talked down from car park roof in Eastleigh
12:07pm Thursday 12th July 2012 in Eastleigh
By Julian Robinson, Eastleigh Chief Reporter
Man talked down from car park roof
NEGOTIATORS were called in after a man was found “in a precarious position” at the top of a Hampshire multi-storey car park.
Police received a call reporting concerns for the welfare of the man who was on the edge of the 13-level Mitchell Road car park in Eastleigh.
Neighbouring Southampton Road was closed while the drama unfolded at around 11.30pm on last night and a critical incident inspector was called in.
Negotiations with the man continued until just before 1.30am when he came away from the edge of the town centre car park of his own accord and was led to safety unharmed.

Sorry Mrs. Brown we could not come to your burning house, our crew was out dealing with some attention seeker at the time.
Sorry we could not come straight away to attend to a reported mugging, we have not got enough officers as our resources are being wasted by phoney 999 calls, drunks and attention seekers.
I pay my bills, taxes etc. Why should I have to have a diminished service due to the above idiots?
As you can guess, no sympathy from me. Should have got Dirty Harry up there to sort it out.

Unfortunately one of the reasons our services are deteriorating is due to people, like this man, who feel it is theirs to use as they wish and drain valuable resources away from those who really need it. Smokers, the fat, drunks and time wasters should contribute more, and not just in taxes they pay for beer/ fags or cakes.
horse riding, cycling or driving for pleasure, injuring themselves doing DIY,decorating, cooking and so it goes on. Where do you draw the line? Every one who pays tax contributes towards the emergency services.

No, but I’m sure most people don’t get on to a car, ladder or on a horse with the intention of wasting the time/ resources of our emergency services. The ones that do should be prosecuted/ fined for doing so, just like our attention seeking friend.

By the way not all fat people are fat because they eat too much of the wrong food. some cases are caused by glandular disease.
A friend of mine was a normal 12 stone and put on steroids for a disease and put on 11 stone in 8 months and the doctors had no idea what do do. Does that make him a waste of valuable resources? We should generalise
