AN Eastleigh woman died as a result of an eating disorder, an inquest heard.

Sarah-Jayne Saunders was found dead aged 27 at her home in Southampton Road, Eastleigh, by her partner Christopher Betts in March.

She had been suffering with bulimia and would often force herself to vomit 10-15 times a day.

In a statement read out at the inquest, eating disorder therapist Isabel Lewzey said Miss Saunders could not tolerate feeling ‘full.’ She said: “Sarah felt fat when she was full. She generally felt negative about herself and she felt more likeable when she could present herself well to others.”

The inquest heard she would also drink three litres of cider a day although she had reduced this to one pint a day shortly before her death.

Miss Saunders was hospitalised in Winchester in January due to her bulimia and Ms Lewzey said she reduced her vomiting after she was released.

But pathologist Dr Hayley Burnley said the constant vomiting caused heart failure, coupled with liver disease sustained from heavy drinking.

Grahame Short, coroner for Central Hampshire, recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
