A MULTI-MILLION-pound makeover of a Hampshire health centre will be finished before Christmas.

The completion on December 21 of the £2m revamp of Fareham Health Centre will be more than a month later than first predicted but health bosses say that it has stayed within budget.

The refurbishment of the 50-year-old building started in May but staff continued to work around the refurbishment to ensure as little disruption as possible to patients.

Despite previous plans, only one, not two, GP practices now use the site, the Centre Practice, run by Dr Eric Webster and partners.

The other practice which was at the health centre – Dr Jordan and Partners – has now moved staff to its main building at the Highlands Medical Centre, in Highlands Road.

Patients at The Centre Practice will benefit from a large new treatment room with improved privacy and three extra consulting rooms, as well as improvements to the reception desk, which will be much more user-friendly, particularly for patients in wheelchairs.
