GENEROUS residents are donating their spare change in large numbers to ensure charity work continues.
The Rotary Club of Fareham’s wishing well in Fareham Shopping Centre continues to attract donations for a charity recipient which changes every quarter.
And in the last year the wishing well, along with collections at the 99p store in Fareham, have yielded a total of £1,112.
Charities during that year included the Philippines disaster relief funds, the Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust Rocky Appeal, which aims to provide a new state of the art digital keyhole operating theatre at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, and Shopmobility.
The latest charity to benefit is Cancer Research UK.
President of the Rotary Club of Fareham, Pamela Bryant, said: “We are constantly amazed and delighted each month when we take the proceeds out of the Wishing Well to note how kind people can be.”
