AN unattended chip pan almost caused a fire in a Hampshire flat.
Two fire engines from Fareham Fire Station were called to the flat in Stubbington after a resident discovered he left the chip pan on and feared it would burst into flames.
By the time firefighters arrived at the flat in Foster Close, he had turned off the cooker and got himself out of the property.
Firefighters quickly ventilated the flat and spoke to the resident about fire safety following the incident which happened at 8.15pm last night.
