A new autism friendly temporary public art gallery and artspace has opened in Fareham.

It was launched this week by Arts not for profit, Live Art Local CIC.

Sticks Gallery & Art Space will showcase great work by emerging and established artists in a way that all members of the population can engage with, including those with autism and similar disabilities.

It will also hold regular workshops and operate a drop in and create policy for the local population.

Beth Davis-Hofbauer, Artist and Director of Live Art Local CIC & Sticks Gallery said: “This is a first for Fareham and something we hope to build on in the future.

During our use of this space we will be holding exhibitions, featuring artforms not widely seen in Fareham and running workshops and drop in sessions for the whole community.

It is vital that all people feel they can engage with art and not just during some special session. Through researching the needs of those with sensory processing disorders and autism we have come up with a number of ways the gallery experience can be made more accessible for people with these needs and this is what we are hoping to execute during our use of this space. ”
