A GANG of criminals who attacked a Hampshire man in his own home have been sentenced to a total of 35 years.

Five "hardened" criminals are behind bars today after they attacked a man in his own home while his terrified children looked on.

The gang were all sentenced after they were found guilty of conspiracy to rob Wayne Hughes in Gosport after a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

The four-week trial heard Tyrone Smith and Nathan Brown were among four men who burst through the front door of his St Vincent Road home.

One-legged getaway driver Stewart Broughton, 50, of Ann’s Hill Road, Gosport, lay in wait outside in a BMW X5 while Jessica Jenkins, 37, of Potters Avenue, Fareham, was waiting in a Peugeot 206.

Wayne Dujon, 33, of Ransome Close, Fareham, believed the gang would find £50,000 inside the home – but soon found out this was wrong.

After beating Mr Hughes, they realised his six and 10 year old sons were present and fled the scene.

Jenkins led the police on a high-speed police chase through Gosport and Fareham.

Dujon, considered the mastermind of the scheme, was sentenced to a total of 12 years.

He also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal and to attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was convicted of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Mum-of-one Jenkins also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal. She was also convicted to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and dangerous driving.

She was given a total of four years in custody.

Broughton, Smith and Brown were each convicted of conspiracy to robbery. They were given four, seven and eight year custody sentences respectively.
