A DRIVEWAY went up in flames when a gas main caught fire at a Hampshire home.
An underground pipe leading to a house in Fareham fractured and caught alight at 7pm last night (Tuesday).
A dog walker raised the alarm after spotting flames coming from paving slabs of the semi detached property’s driveway.
Crews from Fareham fire station arrived and used a dry power extinguisher to smother the blaze.
A woman believed to be in her 60s living there was unharmed but the flames caused damage to the connecting gas box and nearby guttering and flower pots.
The building’s gas and electricity supplies were switched off so repairs could be made.
