A MOTORCYCLIST has died in a crash on a Hampshire road.

The woman, in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision between a black motorcycle and a light blue Fiat Doblo on the A27 in Fareham just after 1pm.

Police said both vehicles were conducting manoeuvres at the set of traffic lights at the junction with Catisfield Road opposite the Oast & Squire pub.

The woman driving the Fiat was checked by ambulance crews but was not seriously injured.

The eastbound carriageway of The Avenue towards Fareham is closed at this section while police investigate the scene and is likely to remain closed for some time.

Drivers are advised to use the diversions in place.

The westbound carriageway remains open.

Officers are in the process of identifying the woman and contacting her next of kin.

They are also appealing for information and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle driving prior to it.
