A MOTHER and daughter had a “lucky escape” after a flat fire broke out in Hampshire this morning.
Ambulance and fire crews rushed to the scene at Broadacre Place, Fareham, at about 6.20am after the blaze broke out in the bathroom of a second-floor flat.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a high-pressure hose reel to rescue those inside the flat and extinguish the flames, and an investigation has been launched to establish how the fire started.
A statement on a Fareham Fire Station Twitter account said: “Lucky escape for mother and daughter from a flat this morning.
“Check your smoke alarms now please folks.”
South Central Ambulance Service sent an ambulance officer and crew to the incident and a spokeswoman told the Daily Echo that two patients were attended to at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
The fire was extinguished at about 7.30am.
