A TELEVISION fire started a major blaze in a Hampshire block of flats last night.
A team of 11 firefighters had to tackle a fire in a three storey block of flats which required “tactical ventilation” due to huge amounts of smoke.
The crews were called to Cleveland Road in Gosport, just before midnight yesterday to extinguish a television on fire in a kitchen and had to use two breathing apparatus and one hose reel.
The fire had created so much smoke that the crew also had to use a specialist fan to get rid of the smoke in the property and one man was treated by South Central Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The fire started around 11.15pm last night and took firefighters an hour to stop.
An investigation revealed that it was an electrical fire caused by the television.
