POLICE have been given more time to question a man in connection with a murder today.

Hampshire Constabulary has revealed they have been granted an extension to question a 32-year-old man until 1am tomorrow in connection with the death of Christopher Butler.

Christopher’s body was found on New Year’s Day at a house in Waverley Road, Southsea at 12.35am.

Detectives have been investigating the alleged murder of the 27-year-old.

It comes after Christopher’s family paid tribute and said: “Chris had a good heart and was a sensitive soul, he always tried hard to please people.

"He loved football, animals and had a very active imagination. He loved to chat and could talk himself out of almost anything.

"We miss him and his ways and are devastated that someone could take our brother's life like this.

"Our family would like this time to grieve and for people to please respect the loss of our brother.

"We hope he is getting a great big hug from mum."

A 23-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man who were also arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed until February 17.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Investigation Team at Fratton Police Station on 101, quoting Operation Turtle.

Alternatively call the anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
