ALMOST 500 people have turned up to raise money for charity in support of school boy seriously injured in a car crash.

Felix Barrow was critically injured outside his house in Swanmore, on his way to school last year.

More than 450 people descended on the Forest of Bere, near Wickham, to take part in the fun run this morning.

The 11-year-old is currently in hospital as he recovers from a head injury sustained when he was hit by a car outside of his home. He may need day-to-day care when he leaves hospital.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, the junior cross-county runner was on his way to school when the accident happened and it was thought he may never walk again.

His parents, Stuart and Vanessa, were amazed at the amount of people that had turned out in support of their son.

Mrs Barrow said: "It is so amazing to see this many people here today.

Daily Echo: Felix recovering in hospital

"We know Felix would love it today. We are true lay blessed to have so many fantastic friends."

Mr Barrow added: "We want to thank everybody that turned up today to support Felix. I means so much to us."

The money raised will go to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the paediatric ward at Southampton General Hospital.

Joan James, of Swanmore, said she has come out to support the family and hopes all the money raise can help Felix.

"I think it is a great idea to get everybody out here to run for him. A lot of people here were pretty shaken when we heard the news so we want to do all we can to help the family."
