POLICE are appealing for information after a cyclist fell off his bike during a near miss with a car in Fareham.

At around 7.50pm on Friday a 22-year-old man was cycling along Highlands Road towards the A27. As he fell a small black vehicle, travelling in the same direction, swerved and went past.

The cyclist was knocked unconscious for a few minutes and sustained arm and leg injuries. He was was taken by ambulance to the Queen Alexandra Hospital.

PC Jim Chapman, said: “We do not believe the vehicle and the cyclist came into contact with one another. However, the car was being driven by at the time the cyclist came off his bike, so we think anyone in that car would have witnessed what happened and why the cyclist came off his bike.

“If you saw what happened or if you are the driver of this vehicle, please get in touch with us and tell us what you saw.”
