FAREHAM MP Suella Fernandes joined regulars and staff to celebrate the refurbishment of one of Porchester’s iconic pubs.

The Wicor Mill has recently undergone a £240,000 facelift to transform it into a welcoming and family-friendly venue.

Situated on one of the town’s busiest roads, the pub on White Hart Lane hopes to become a focal point in the local community, It has been given a traditional pub style and the two rooms have been combined, leaving dedicated areas for the sports bar and dining.

Externally, the pub has been given new signage and lighting – a play area and seating has also been added so that families can relax outside.

Landlord Steve Hudson said that the Wicor Mill has always been popular for its sports entertainment.

He said: “We hope that the new refurbishment will now attract a wider customer base, in particular families looking for a friendly local to enjoy quality, but affordable food.”

A host of themed food nights will be running throughout the week at the Wicor Mill.

These include Mexican Monday, curry and quiz night on a Wednesday, two for £10 burgers on Thursday and £5 fish Friday.

The drinks menu has also been extended to include a range of ales.

As for entertainment there will be live music at the pub on weekends and a host of tribute acts – other planned events include beer festivals and family fun days.

Its refurbishment was made possible thanks to an investment from Punch, a national pub operator.

MP Suella Fernandes said that a family-friendly pub can play a positive role in the community.

She said: “It’s fantastic to see this pub getting a new lease of life!

“Talking to Steve and his team it’s clear that high standards and good customer service are important to them and with the support from Punch, I’m sure that the Wicor Mill will be a great success.”
