Unfortunately, particularly in this ward, the best candidate did not win. David Fuller is such a hard working and honest individual, that any constituency should be proud and honored to be represented by! Despite the result David, you can hold your head high, you've made the Southampton Conservatives and the rest of Southampton extremely proud in your 4 years as Councillor! Im sure there are still many great things ahead of you and im also sure we'll be hearing your name again in the years to come! An HONEST battle fought by Councillor Fuller.. shame I cant say the same about the opposition! The new 'Councillor' shall have to do A LOT to prove her commitment and dedication to this ward. She has a big job a head of her trying to live up to the excellent work you've done for Bitterne!

Did that 'honest campaign include the non standard party letter I got through my door bemoaning the 'jetset lifestyle' of the labour candidates... who 'even drive a Porsche' (that bit actually made me laugh out loud:-)

If he was hard working and popular, then perhaps he was let down by his council oppo's who allowed the bins to go uncollected for 20 odd weeksvand whose self prfessed radical plan was to tell householders to take their rubbish to the tips. Weren't we 'all in it together' in the queues to the dump eh. Honestly!

Makes me laugh, somewhat, that Bitterne returns a "Labour" candidate, and neighbouring Harefield returns a "Conservative" candidate - could be something to do with the odd boundaries - part of Bitterne comes under the Harefield ward.

Still, I maintain there is no difference between the parties except the colour of their rosette, and of the few people who did vote, how many even bothered with policies? Most people I know vote for the party label, they would still vote for the candidate labelled as "Conservative" or "Labour" or whatever, irrespective of policy. Democracy? Is it really the best system money can buy? Or is just an illusion, deluding the public that they have a say in who runs the city/county/country? Seems 70% of us don't think so!

His 'honest campaign' involved no lies and no deceit to the electorate within his ward. Unlike the opposition. After speaking to some of the constituents of the Bitterne area, they've confirmed that they were told by Labour candidates that Conservatives would shut Sure Start centres? Which is utter rubbish after all the work they've put into ensure they're safe. Other lies went around, which potentially lost ex-Councillor Fuller his seat. But everyone who knows the FACTS, also knows Mr Fuller was an outstanding candidate who did SO much for his ward. At least he can continue to hold his head high!
