ROMSEY interior fit out experts Spaceway have helped the UK’s biggest online cycling retailer expand its operations in Hampshire.

Spaceway won a £500,000 project to design and fit out a new warehouse, office and bulk pallet storage facility for Portsmouth-based Wiggle.

Wiggle has embarked on an ambitious growth plan after GB cycling success at the Olympics Games and Tour de France.

It acquired two new facilities in the Harbourgate development in Portsmouth to accommodate its expanding workforce and stock.

Over 12 weeks, Spaceway created new offices on three mezzanine floors and warehousing space in a 30,000 square feet building.

Wiggle’s other new 25,000 square feet building was transformed in just six weeks, with high bay pallet racking installed to accommodate over 2,000 pallet positions. External repairs were also carried out and a new access point between the two buildings was created.

Wiggle operations director Nick Pink said: “2012 is an incredibly exciting time for UK cycling. The Olympics and the Tour de France have inspired people across the country to take up this great sport and we have been sure to prepare ourselves for the inevitable increase in business that this will create with our latest expansion project.”

Spaceway managing director Malcolm Jeary added: “Seeing expansion projects such as these reach the finish line is perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of the job. We are incredibly proud to have such a successful company like Wiggle in Hampshire and to be able to help it grow even further through clever use of space planning is an honour.”
