A Hampshire businessman has been arrested on suspicion of an £80,000 tax fraud.

HM Revenue & Customs criminal investigators arrested the man in a raid on a residential address in Fareham .

The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of an estimated £80,000 VAT and Income Tax fraud.

He has been bailed while investigations continue.

HMRC spokesman Bob Gaiger said: “HMRC take tax fraud seriously and will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds.”
