A GROUP has given a boost to Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to help fund a family support worker.

Layla’s Trust has donated £12,000 to the Fareham-based charity which helps families with children who have life-threatening illnesses.

Layla’s Trust was set up in 2011 by Emma and Colman Cotter whose baby girl died in 2011 from an incurable genetic condition.

It now supports bereaved families as well as helping those who have children with life-limiting disabilities and terminal illnesses on the Isle of Wight.

Emma said: “Supporting the island community has unique challenges particularly if your child becomes seriously ill. We first approached Rainbow Trust back in 2012 and now, after years of planning and negotiation, we are so pleased to have them here.”

The new support worker, Madelaine Reilly, said: “I’m loving my new role, building relationships with the families and hopefully making a positive impact in their lives.”
